Healing touch for Animals

Healing Touch is a nationally accredited program created by a nurse, Janet Mentgen R.N., B.S.N., in the late 1980’s. Since its inception, Healing Touch has been integrated into over 75,000 health care facilities world-wide. In 2006 Carol Komitor, with the blessing of the Healing Touch Program, developed a Healing Touch system suited for use with animals of all kinds. Healing Touch for Animals can relieve pain, address behavior issues, accelerate wound healing, support the immune system, and much more. The practice of Healing Touch for Animals is based on the relaxation response and how it affects the body’s ability to regulate itself.

According to the HTA Website, “Healing Touch for Animals® (HTA) is a holistic approach influencing the health and well-being of animals through energy and intention. Healing Touch for Animals® combines philosophies, techniques and applications to promote energy balance and healing of our animals while providing physical, emotional, mental and instinctual stability.”

It is believed that every living thing has a field of energy surrounding it and traveling through the physical body. Traditional Chinese Medicine refers to this energy as Qi (“chi”). Disruptions and disturbances in this energy can manifest in the form of disease, behavior issues, and more. By utilizing Healing Touch for Animals techniques a practitioner can clear and balance an animal’s energy system, and allow the animal to self-heal. Healing Touch for Animals is used as an adjunct for traditional veterinary medicine and works seamlessly with any other treatments your pet may be receiving.

What does a HTA Session entail?

An HTA session lasts approximately 30-60 minutes and takes place with your pet resting comfortably in a quiet area. Pet owners are permitted to stay with their pets if they choose to do so. The HTA Practitioner will assess your pet’s energy system and check for any compromised or blocked areas. They will then perform HTA techniques to remedy any blockages they have found. These techniques are performed with the practitioner’s hands resting gently on, or just off the body. The practitioner will then do another assessment to ensure that any blockages have been remedied.

Most pets find an HTA session immensely relaxing and will often yawn, lie down and even fall asleep during their treatment. It is a similar experience to getting a nice relaxing massage.
